Ciqi, eyewear with music and colors

When I met (over the computer screen) Mr Yoshiaki Obara, he seems to be a “music” person. And my guess was right. He designs all eyewear models at Ciqi. Each model name is quite often related to music. For example, sleek yet round model is Weller, named after Paul Weller from The Style Council. Metal framed light and simple one is Natalie. This is named after Natalie Cole. How about the model, Herbie, which has round frame with playful details? Yes, it’s from Herbie Hancock.

Weller, Ciqi

As the mood around Mr Obara has told me about his musical aspect, I sensed colors on this brand Ciqi, at the first sight. Ciqi’s eyewear are designed with colors. Simply you see objects with clear and sometimes well shaded sights with these eyewear. Also as an object, Ciqi’s eyewear itself could add touch of color onto your daily style. Ciqi’s product is neither just an eyewear, nor purely fashion item. It’s a functional object. I find this balance very comfortable.

Peep glasses?

Circle, Ciqi

Before dealing with Ciqi, I have never touched so called lorgnette type of eyewear, such as Peep, Circle or Point. It’s rather a prop in a movie scene for me. Have you ever tried to use them? It was a happy surprise! Lorgnette is quite easy to use and more flexible than reading glasses, I felt. You just fix the glasses with your hand in front of your eyes. By moving the object back and forth, you can adjust how well you see. If you do not know exact strength you need, this is easier choice than reading glasses, same for a gift choice to someone whose strength level you are not totally sure about.
